Cork Children's Chorus
Cork Children's Chorus is a chorus of more than 100 children
aged between 10
and 17 years from Cork city and county.
Members of the Cork Children's Chorus meet every Saturday
during term time
with each session affording the children vocal training,
music education,
social contact and cultural experience. Since its establishment
Cork
Children's Chorus has represented Cork in civic events,
sacred performances,
staged productions, and national and international television
broadcasts.
Cork Children's Chorus is a project which promotes an equality
of access to
artistic opportunities among Cork communities. The children
of the Cork
Children's Chorus represent themselves, their families,
their schools, local
communities, and ultimately, their city in song.
Cork Children's Chorus is developed by Opera Works and
supported by
Cork City Council, RAPID, Culture Ireland, EU-Japan Fest,
and the Arts
Council.
Cork Children's Chorus is, for Opera Works, far more than
an outreach programme. It is an integrated part of the company's
production resources and a training ground for future performers
in the genre.
